The “I’m Bored of Everything” Phase

And Why It’s Not You.

It starts quietly.

Nothing is wrong.

Nothing is broken.

But suddenly everything feels. off.

Your routine.

Your space.

Even the things you were choosing and liked previously.

A quick glance at your phone gets your attention.

and laid it down again.

Not that there is nothing to do

but because nothing seems interesting any more.

This Isn’t Boredom

Not really.

You don't lack anything.

It is that all things are alike.

Same apps.

Same setup.

Equal noise, same image, each day, till it blends in.

And all things seem identical--

Eventually, your brain stops processing it.

The Thing Is not that you Change

It’s everything else not changing with you.

Your mood shifts.

Your energy changes.

It won't be the same every day.

But the things that are about you?

They stay fixed.

And gradually a disconnection is created--

between how you feel. and what you deal with.

The Biggest Error

They think:

Something new I am in need of.

So they:

  • Buy something
  • Replace something
  • Or run away at greater loss.

That does not last long though.

The difficulty was not want--

it was a want of variation.

What You Really Need

Not more things.

Just more range.

One of the ways to make something that is familiar to you a little different.

Without replacing it.

Without overthinking it.

The Little Reset That Works

The tiniest change can be sufficient to disrupt the trend.

A different texture.

A different color.

A rather different touch in your hand.

It sounds minor—

but your brain takes notice at a glance.

Where This Is the most Shown

In the most frequently used object:

Your phone.

You can see it a hundred times a day.

Hold it constantly.

Play around with it without any thought.

And yet--it never changes almost.

Re-evaluating the Same Phone Feeling

What would it be like not to have to feel the same with your phone everyday?

Not by substituting it

but by re-working the ways in which it appears.

This is where a modular setup alters the experience:

You do not begin again. You just. switch.

You just… switch.

The Difference of Switching

Due to the contrast it generates.

And contrast is a change of view.

  • Yesterday was minimal → today is bold.
  • Yesterday was neutral, today is a texture.
  • Yesterday got mixed in → today is prominent.

Same phone.

Different experience.

No Big Changes Necessary

You do not have to have a complete restart.

You do not have to change everything around you.

All it takes is a single movement in some cases.

in that which you already have--

to make it all a bit new once again.

The Real Shift

When you have tasted that,

you quit pursuing new.

Instead, you begin to make variation.

And change is more protracted.

Try This

When all is a bit dull next time--

Don’t change everything.

Change one thing.

Begin with what you have in your hand.

Since you may not be sick of everything.

Or perhaps they all just began to resemble each other.
